As per proclamation of VTech Company it was an enormous break in light of the fact that in this PC penetrate individual subtleties of such a significant number of youngsters was spilled and further this detail was utilized by programmers for concealing their personalities. As indicated by a data source, it is discovered that programmers released this data to Motherhood magazine. In any case, in this entire occurrence charge card data was spared to penetrate and it was guaranteed by VTech. The bunches of data that was penetrated by programmers included name of guardians, messages, passwords, mystery question/answers of guardians, traces of passwords, login and enrollment data of guardians. Other than this, Parent locations of VTech, their record subtleties, kid names and pictures of kids and kid enlistment URL and record subtleties were likewise spilled. The companys clients were from various nations, for example, UK, Spain, France and Germany. It was in the end a monstrous instance of PC security break that was hard to control rapidly (WiseGEEK, 2017). 2.According to examination of VTech Company, it was discovered that this PC security break was happened due to SQL infusion on companys database and this movement helped programmers to spill subtleties of guardians and kids from database. It is additionally accepted by security specialists that obsolete stages are utilized for powerless hacking of database, for example, ASP.NET 2.0, WCF, SOAP and FLASH. Programmers actualized this security break to gather individual data of kids and their folks, with the goal that this data can be additionally utilized by them for concealing their characters and furthermore they needed to offer this data to Motherhood magazine. The most powerless consequence of this assault was that secret data of a large number of clients of VTech Company lost which can't be recuperated effectively (HackRead, 2017). 3.The specialist of VTech Companys security break case had the option to distinguish gadgets that are utilized by kids and furthermore sites that were utilized much of the time. Other than this, some conceivable answer for this PC security penetrate are recorded as underneath: It was assault of SQL Injection on ASP.NET stage, so to get this sort of assault utilize a record with limited consents in database and attempt to abstain from unveiling data of database mistake (Healthcare IT News, 2017). To get anticipation from above sort of assault, it is important to ensure database by utilizing propelled security highlights. In the event that database will be made sure about, at that point it is hard for programmers to get to it (ucsc.edu, 2017). The utilization of cryptography is a most ideal approach to ensure information into database and over system. To accomplish this, encryption procedure is required to utilize. By this strategy entire data will be scrambled into indiscernible structure and afterward will be put away into database. It is hard for programmers to comprehend information in this structure. The database examining is should by utilizing antivirus or by database scanners, for example, NeXpose, Oscanner, Kaspersky and McAfee and so forth. By utilizing these instruments, it will be simpler to discover bugs from database whenever found any and proper arrangement can be discovered (Greene, 2017). If there should be an occurrence of enormous measure of information, it will be smarter to take reinforcement of information occasionally from database and expel that information from online database. Reinforcement information can be put away safely on another database that is far from programmers. Along these lines, immense measure of information can be spared in type of modules (com, 2017). By executing these potential arrangements, it is conceivable that organization like VTech can spare its database from security breaks. It is matter of execution of organization and its duty towards individual data of its clients and customers. On the off chance that organization won't be cautious about this, at that point it will seriously impact its notoriety. In this hacking of individual data records, budgetary data isn't taken by programmers (Msdn.microsoft.com, 2017). 5.The clients of eBay whose individual data was put away into database of organization were profoundly influenced with this hacking assault (Hacked: Hacking Finance, 2017). The loss of individual data isn't too little to even think about bearing. The clients of eBay were influenced such that programmers could abuse their own data and can spilled it to different organizations. For each organization that is giving web based shopping administrations to individuals, it is basic to make sure about information of its clients into their databases. In the event that organization can't accomplish this effectively, at that point it will place sway over its presentation in advertise (Databreachtoday.in, 2017). 6.This hacking assault is completed by programmers by taking login certifications of eBay from its database and afterward by utilizing these qualifications delicate data from database was taken. eBay didn't clear yet that who was behind this assault. As per SEA it was hacktivist activity yet it was not done to hack budgetary records of individuals (Wired.com, 2017). 7.After seeing terrible effects of hacking occurrence, eBay urged its clients to change its passwords and furthermore consoled them that their money related data was not taken. eBay likewise improved its stockpiling framework for putting away significant data and information was put away in scrambled structure into database and it is probably the most ideal approaches to shield clients data from hacking and phishing assaults. Other than this, some other anticipation techniques that could have been finished by eBay to forestall hacking assaults are recorded as underneath (SearchSecurity, 2017): Utilization of Database Scanning Tools Occasional Backup of Database Utilization of Antivirus (Dark Reading, 2017) Utilization of Database Scanning Tools An organization that has number of clients and their data is put away into companys database, it is significant for organization to continue following of database occasionally by utilizing database examining devices, for example, Oscanner, Kaspersky and McAfee. These apparatuses will assist with examining entire database once and on the off chance that any blunder or bug will discovered, at that point that can be fixed right away. If there should arise an occurrence of eBay, on the off chance that it could have been utilized this device, at that point from a little movement of programmers with database could caution security experts. So it will be smarter to utilize this alternative (MakeUseOf, 2017). Occasional Backup of Database Another choice that could have been utilized by eBay is legitimate reinforcement of database at ordinary premise. While utilizing on the web databases, usually programmers attempt to get to database in unapproved ways and spilled information it to other people. For this situation, on the off chance that reinforcement of information will be accessible, at that point overwhelming loss of information can be controlled. An intermittent reinforcement ought to be taken into another frameworks database, so that in the event that principle database gets harm, at that point elective database can be utilized. Utilization of Antivirus Antivirus can likewise be utilized for security reason. Hostile to infection is utilized for filtering the infection from framework and database and afterward subsequent to distinguishing infection, the fixing of that is additionally conceivable with the assistance of this. eBay Company could have been introduced hostile to infection into framework and could fix little bugs that were utilized by programmers as feeble focuses. These are some potential arrangements that can be utilized by eBay Company to deal with its issues of database security and protection. It is additionally obligation of security experts of organization to be cautious about security issues and should discover proper answers for that. Different security patches are additionally accessible to determine issues of databases security. End After this entire conversation we can say that in the event that issues of PC security breaks are expanding step by step, at that point on opposite side, different arrangements are additionally accessible. However, it is ordinarily observed that the majority of the security issues happens because of ill-advised utilization of security apparatuses and by overlooking little blunders and bugs of frameworks that can be shaped greater in future. If there should be an occurrence of both VTech and eBay, regular issue

It just transfers saved energy to the currency of dollars over the course of time.WILL I HAVE ENOUGH TIME?“If you feel like your boss is standing above your head, pick up the pace, but do it calmly. As the old Latin expression goes Festina Lente. As long as your mind is cleared, everything else will be, too. Important thing is that you don’t have to deny your vacation guilt.Try to remember that your boss takes a vacation, too.Its not just a privilege of being a boss, its a means to become one too if you use it wisely.Do not make excuses just to avoid a few days of resting that you surely deserve.Workaholism is as detrimental to your health as much as it opposites are. There’s no need to feel guilty for leaving and making as if all the jobs fell on you only.Take those free days because you earned them. You have a right to them and they didnt come in a contract just out of nowhere.Theres a medical, physical, psychological and economic need for them. There is so much chance that people won’t ever use free days if they are saving them for later so plan ahead and dont postpone.ISSUES OF THE WALLETS DEPTHEvery one of us probably experienced to hear our colleagues talking about their vacation plans, exotic destinations, cool adrenaline sports for which we may not have opportunities to experience. The economy issue becomes one of the biggest problems for suffering from vacation guilt. Not having enough resources to provide a good vacation can have you lose your motivation for both the job and the vacation. That way you can linger in between and not do anything right.QUALITY VACATION IS NOT ABOUT THE FINANCESThe amount of money spent on vacation is not a guarantee that the vacation will be good and vice versa if youre broke, all you need is some free time and some good ideas to plan and have a great one.So we shouldn’t be making excuses for not having enough money. There are so many things we can do for us to relax a bit outside of our workplace. Those who are thinking twice before taking a vacation have their reasons for that. The biggest barrier to overcome before taking a vacation surely is a fear of being replaceable. On the second place comes a feeling of heavy workload and in the third-place lies a lack of coverage at work. Source: ustravel.orgWhether you are in your 20’s, 40’s or 60’s, you deserve a vacation. There’s so much different kind of works, but each of them is specifically hard in their way.If you are working like an engineer, teacher, manager, maybe psychologist, then you deserve a good mental break for yourself. If you belong to a category of physical workers, or both mixed mental and physical, then you surely deserve both kinds of vacation.Humans are hard-working creatures and because of that, they won’t let their hard work and earned money to go to waste, but that can backfire as well.U.S. Travel’s research showed the results of tracking America’s vacation usage in 2018.It looks like millennials are mostly interested in workcations. By skipping a vacation, you think you’re saving yourself for work, but if you don’t get a break, you won’t be able to do your work right.Since the guilt does not result in any good, here is the advice on how to get rid of it.SELF-ANALYSIS, INTROSPECTION, AND CONTEMPLATION VS. Jane Austen s Influence On Society - 3452 Words

As a well-traveled young woman for her day and age, Jane Austen undoubtedly mixed her personal experiences and encounters into her classic tales. Many critics have analyzed the characters in her novels as being comparable to people Austen actually knew in her lifetime. Moreover, critics say that Austen transcribed her own self through most of her main heroines, whether it was how she actually acted, or what she desired to be like in real life. However, not many critics have touched on the importance of the aunt-figure that is present throughout Austen’s novels. Most aunts throughout her novels, although not major characters, prove to be some of the most influential on the protagonists. I would argue that because Austen regarded herself as a responsible and integral part in all of her nieces and nephews lives, she transcribed this throughout her characters. Thus, by acknowledging the insight and importance of the aunts in her novels, we can actually learn more as to how Austen must have been when playing her real-life role as â€Å"Aunt Jane.† Within her own life, Austen understood the importance of the extended family. She was an aunt to over 30 nieces and nephews, and often considered the favorite. In some cases, Austen even took over care of some of her nieces and nephews after their mothers passed. The Hole in the Wall Free Essays

Today I finally found an apartment to live in, it’s not much but what can you expect? I’m still in college so this is all can afford. The apartment is pretty run down, i was cleaning it up the best i could when i discovered a hole in the wall, it had paper stuffed inside it. I pulled all the paper out to find out that the hole travels all the way to the apartment room next door to mine. We will write a custom essay sample on The Hole in the Wall or any similar topic only for you Order Now You have a clear view of the whole apartment, i could easily spy on my neighbour if i really wanted to. At least it’s not a big hole i thought to myself, it’s about the size of a golf ball. I reached for my phone to check the time. It’s 8:20am. I grabbed the paper and forced it back into the little hole and rushed out the door, i was going to be late for class. When classes ended for the day i decided to go straight home, exhausted, i dragged myself into the elevator. The door was starting to close when this young woman was heading quickly for the elevator. I pushed the button to hold the door open for her, she thanked then we stood in silence. I took a glance her way to realize how attractive this woman was, she had long brown hair and gorgeous green eyes, she looked really smart and put together, i couldn’t take my eyes off her. When the elevator stopped on my floor i was surprised to see her get off behind me. I walked for my apartment door to find out that this very attractive woman is my neighbour! I walked into my apartment with a huge grin on my face, thrilled that she was living next door. Later on that night my curiosity got the best of me, I had to take a little peek into the hole in the wall to see what my neighbour was up to. Lucky for me i caught her in the middle of changing. I watched her for a few minutes then decided to cover the hole back up, i don’t want to push my luck. After i covered the hole up I did my homework and went to bed. I woke up to someone heavy breathing, it was really strange. At first i thought it was in my dreams but then I realized this was real life. It sounded like someone was struggling, gasping for air. And I’m pretty sure it’s coming from my neighbours apartment. Completely terrified, i slowly pulled the paper out of the little hole in the wall. I pressed my face up against the wall and let my eyes adjust to the dark. I was completely horrified from what i saw, someone was stabbing my neighbour to death. I must of watch this person stab her a dozen times. Who ever they were really wanted to make sure she was dead that’s for sure. I kept as quiet as i could, waiting for the murderer to leave the apartment, hoping to get a look at their face. When the murderer turned to leave i caught a glimpse of their face, it was a man, very tall with a very narrow face with an abnormally large nose. He would be fairly easy to identify if i were ever to see him again. I backed away from the hole and raced for my phone. I was just about to call the police when i realized I couldn’t. If i called them I would have to explain that i was spying on my neighbour through a hole in my wall which sounds creepy and also suspicious. So i put my phone down and sat in my bed, trembling and scarred from what i have just seen. I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night and decided to leave for school at the crack of dawn so that i wouldn’t be around when someone realizes that my neighbour has been killed. I came home late that night to find two policeman outside my apartment. They started to ask me questions about my neighbour and where i was last night. They came inside my house and took a look around and they found the hole in the wall. I explained that i have only been living here a few days and it’s clear that there are still some renovations that need to take place. After hours of questions the police left, tired of getting repetitive answers but I’m not going to reveal my secret so i kept with my story. I decided to put it all behind me and try to move on, the first couple nights i had a hard time sleeping but after a week everything was going good. Then again, i woke up to the same noise in the middle of the night, heavy breathing. It was coming from the apartment next door again. This time i completely panicked because there is no one living in that apartment now. It’s still all taped off from the crime scene investigation, no one was been in that room other than the police. I found the courage to rise to my feet, my legs quivered as i walked over to the hole in the wall, not knowing what to expect when i remove the paper from it. I took a deep breath a pulled the paper out. I looked through the hole and saw nothing, there was no one there. I backed away from the wall and forcefully ran my fingers through my hair, i think I’m starting to lose my mind. Then i heard the noise again so i turned towards the hole again. There was a wide-open bloodshot eye starring back at me. The hideous unblinking eye starred at me as i crouched to the floor frozen with fear. Then the silence was broken by a woman’s raspy voice saying â€Å"i know you saw.† How to cite The Hole in the Wall, Papers

Corporate Solution at Jones Lang Lasalle free essay sample

Should the account management function be a cost center or profit center? Should Peter Barge recruit an internal or external candidate to be BoA’s account manager? Part A). We feel that this new account manager function should be considered as a cost center. Generally, account managers are points of contact in managing customer’s accounts with the business, and this is also true in JLL’s reasons for introducing an account manager. JLL wants to ensure that their clients feel that their RE needs are being met. Therefore it will not be the incoming account manager’s job to go out and find new clients to work with, and thus we cannot expect the account manager to produce any additional profits to the company but maintain existing clients. Instead, the account manager will be working closely with JLL’s three business units – Tenant Representation, Project Development Management, and Corporate Property Services – as well as Bank of America to enhance information transfers and business understandings between these parties. We will write a custom essay sample on Corporate Solution at Jones Lang Lasalle or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page When transferring information between JLL business units and Bank of America, the account management will ensure clients’ needs are well understood by regional offices. Before the idea of account management, JLL’s business units strayed away from sharing information amongst each other, partially because they were afraid of losing clients to each other. Therefore, the account manager needs to be an effective and fair intermediary between JLL’s business units, as well as between JLL and Bank of America. Consequently, profits are not necessarily generated by this mid-stream function but the downstream regional offices, which with help from the new role use their resources to provide clients with improved RE solutions. Part B). We decided that account managers should be recruited externally. First, the nature of the job client service oriented. The major function of this position is to diagnose and respond to customer’s requests in a timely and proactive manner. Since internal unit managers are highly specialized in their own unit (region), and would need to acquire extra knowledge about other units as external managers do, putting them into this position would not yield any advantage over hiring external managers. Furthermore, internal managers might make biased decisions which benefit their own unit at a cost of corporate profits. They might allocate the majority of the businesses to his/her unit simply because he/she thinks it was better than what other units have to offer. This conflict of interests would jeopardize the initial incentive in setting up the position. As for external managers, since they yield no prior experience with any of regional office of the company, they would evaluate each unit equally and make the optimal allocation decision to achieve real estate solutions for MNCs and therefore maximize overall profit. At last, we recommend fixed and performance-based pay for the new role. Evaluation criteria could include client feedbacks (primary), revenue generated through that client (secondary) and feedbacks from regional offices the account manager deals with.

10 Things You Should Know About Gender in Spanish

10 Things You Should Know About Gender in Spanish Here are 10 facts about Spanish gender that will be useful as you learn the language: 1. Gender is a way of classifying nouns into two categories. Spanish nouns are masculine or feminine, although there are a few that are ambiguous, meaning that Spanish speakers are inconsistent in which gender is applied to them. Also, some nouns, particularly those that refer to people, can be masculine or feminine depending on whether they refer to a male or female, respectively. The grammatical significance of gender is that adjectives  and articles referring to nouns must be of the same gender as the nouns they refer to. 2. Spanish also has a neuter gender that applies to one definite article and a few pronouns. By using the definite article lo, it is possible to make an adjective function as if it were a neuter noun. The neuter pronouns generally are used to refer to ideas or concepts rather than to things or people. They can also be used to things whose identities arent known, as in  ¿Quà © es eso? for What is that? 3. Except when referring to people and some animals, the gender of a noun is arbitrary. Thus, things associated with females can be masculine (for example, un vestido, a dress). And things associated with males (for example, virilidad, masculinity) can be feminine. In other words, there is no way to predict a nouns gender from its meaning. For example, silla and mesa (chair and table, respectively) are feminine, but taburete and sof (stool and couch) are masculine. 4. Although feminine words as a general rule refer to females, and masculine words to females, it is possible to do the opposite. The words for man and woman, hombre and mujer, respectively, are the gender youd expect, as are words for girl and boy, chica and chico. But it is important to remember that the gender of a noun attaches to the word itself rather than to what it refers. So persona, the word for person, is feminine regardless of who it refers to, and the word for baby, bebà ©, is masculine. 5. Spanish grammar has a preference for the masculine gender. The masculine might be considered the default gender. Where masculine and feminine forms of a word exist, it is the masculine that is listed in dictionaries. Also, new words that enter the language are typically masculine unless theres a reason to treat the word otherwise. For example, the imported English words marketing, suà ©ter (sweater), and sndwich are all masculine. Web, referring to a computer network, is feminine, probably because it as a shortened form of pgina web (web page), and pgina is feminine. 6. Many words have separate masculine and feminine forms. Most if not all of these are used for referring to people or animals. In most cases for singular nouns and adjectives, the feminine form is made by adding an a to the masculine form or changing an ending e or o to a. A few examples: amigo (male friend), amiga (female friend)profesor (male teacher), profesora (female teacher)sirviente (male servant), sirvienta (female servant) A few words have irregular differences: tigre (male tiger), tigresa (female tiger)rey (king), reina (queen)actor (actor), actriz (actress)toro (bull), vaca (cow) 7. There are a few exceptions to the rule that words ending in o are masculine and many exceptions to the rule that words ending in a are feminine. Among the feminine o words are mano (hand), foto (photo), and disco (disco). Among the masculine a words are numerous words of Greek origin such as dilema (dilemma), drama, tema (subject), and holograma (hologram). Also, many a words that refer to occupations or types of people - among them atleta (athlete), hipà ³crita (hypocrite), and dentista (dentist) - can be either masculine or feminine. 8. As the culture in which Spanish is spoken changes, so is the way the language treats gender as it applies to people. For example, at one time la doctora almost always referred to a doctors wife, and la jueza referred to the wife of the judge. But these days, those same terms usually mean a female doctor and judge, respectively. Also, it is becoming more common to use terms such as la doctor (rather than la doctora) and la juez (rather than la jueza) when referring to female professionals. 9. The masculine form is used to refer to mixed groups of males and females. Thus, depending on the context, los muchachos can mean either the children or the boys. Las muchachas can refer only to the girls. Even padres (padre is the word for father) can refer to parents, not just fathers. However, the use of both masculine and feminine forms - such as muchachos y muchachas for boys and girls rather than just muchachos - is growing more common. 10. In colloquial written Spanish, it is becoming more common to use as a way of indicating that a word can refer to either males of females. In traditional Spanish, if you were writing a letter to a group of friends, you might open with the masculine form, Queridos amigos, for Dear friends even if your friends are of both sexes. Some writers these days would use Querids amigs instead. Note that the at symbol, known as the arroba in Spanish, looks something like a combination of an a and an o.

AIG Bailout and AIG Bailout Exit Plan - Essay Example Post the financial stress, AIG’s credit rating was downgraded and it required $14.5 billion in collateral in order to improve the credit rating. When private banks denied support, government became the sole option. For the US government, it was a hard bargain. After many rounds of meetings the government decided to lend up to $85 billion. But this threshold was later crossed and the total bailout value reached about $182 billion in different forms. This resulted in the government owning 80% of the then struggling insurer. This equity holding was in the form of equity participation notes. This loan was granted by the government for a period of 2 years. The government had negotiated on all ways to protect the taxpayers’ money. This two year loan carried an interest rate of 8.5% points plus the LIBOR rate. Apart from that it also carried collateral right on major assets of AIG. Thus, if market and the company prosper, the government will receive huge returns through its eq uity stake. If it happens otherwise, it can recoup the investment through the claim on assets and the interest on loans. The government bailout helped AIG to sell off its unprofitable business and to get restructured into a healthy operational position. Exit Plan AIG’s bailout exit plan came out in the mid of 2010.

The Flea John Donne Analysis

The Flea John Donne Analysis Born in 1572, John Donne was an English poet and perhaps one of the best metaphysical poets of his era. His works are notable for their realistic style and include sonnets and love poetry. One of his most famous piece of work is The Flea. Historians are yet to determine the exact time this poem was written, but as a posthumous publication, it was published in the year 1633. One must remember the time this poem was composed, the behavior of people was a very conservative one therefore, using conceit to woo the girl, and he tries to break the barriers. The theme of the poem is disguised in the form of a simple insect such as the flea representing lust and seductive desires. A very avid theme of poetic conceit is used in the duration of this poem. This method is used as an extended metaphor, in this case the flea itself. It is indeed a very humorous method of extending the metaphor to add life to the poem. The guy is asking the girl present to observe a flea in their presence, and is almost imploring her to think how little is what he asks from her. This is one of the best examples used in this work of poetic conceit. He has compared the flea and the blood within it to them being as good as married. The flea has sucked his blood and hers, therefore coming to the conclusion, that, the flea consists of both of their bloods mingled in it. He is very suggestive in implying they are almost more than married. In the olden days, making love amongst two lovers was considered mingling their bloods, they would have to be one flesh before they could do the deed. So, when he refers to the flee having their bloods mingled already, he implies there is no reason for her to say no to him. He draws her attention to the fact that now that their bloods are already mingled and mixed, giving herself to him would not be considered as a shame or a sin or loss of her virginity as they are already one entity. He feels that the flea has joined them in such a manner, And this, alas! Is more than we would do. In the next stanza of the poem, as the story progresses, it seems the girl wishes to kill the flea, and the boy stops her by saying O Stay where hes asked her to stop, as he tries to convince her that this flea not only contains its own life, but also theirs. Clare Middleton from the English Review has made an interesting observation regarding his behavior towards women saying, This speaker excels in dazzling his female conquests with his wit and intelligence. In The Flea, his argument that the woman should submit sexually to him twists and turns in response to her unheard words and unseen actions. He claims initially that the flea represents the tiny moral decision facing her (How little that which thou denyst me is) and then quickly adopts a less flippant tone, suggesting that the flea in fact represents the great sanctity of their sexual contract, because were met/and cloistered in these living walls of jet. When the woman confounds him by killing the flea, its insignificance, which is implicit in her Cruel and sudden act, is the cue for the final twist of his argument: Just so much honor, when thou yieldst to me,/Will waste, as this fleas death took life from thee. From a female point of view, the wittily blasphemous argument is impressive not so much for its details as for its persistence. The phallic imagery of the flea, which pampered, swells with on e blood made of two, implies that the amount of intellectual energy expended in the pursuit is directly proportionate to the physical efforts that might follow the womans capitulation. It may not be politically correct, but it is highly erotic. (Middleton) Once again, using the idea of conceit, he describes in a very metaphysical manner the connection they have with each other using the flea as a center that is holding their lives within it. He tries to woo her on by saying the flea is like their marriage bed and marriage temple, in which their relationship is sanctified and nothing is wrong with it. He hopes she thinks that due to using that as a metaphor, she feels the purity of the deed he wishes to commit and does not look at it as a sin or matter of shame. He extends the flea from just being the institution of the marriage to it now being their marriage bed or marriage temple. Wisam, in The Explicator published in Washington has expanded on this by stating, Donne fundamentally probes the dominant, male sexuality that the text appears to be pushing the woman toward. In fact, the male speaker in the poem assumes the position of the woman seduced rather than that of the invading flea, whose conduct provides a medium for his contention. The male speaker declares that he is sucked [] first (3), and the ambiguity of this in line 5 implies that what cannot be said / A sin, or shame refers to some extant to the speakers experiencing pleasure by that sucking. Mansour, Wisam. The Explicator. v. 65 no1 (Fall 2006) p. 7-9 Very cleverly he plays with words where he says, And cloisterd in these living walls of jet. Jet, is a deep glossy black stone. In this case, he is referring to the color of the flea. He generates strong imagery in this line, by comparing a lifeless black stone with the living walls. She moves to kill the flea, and he aptly implies she would be killing him and additionally herself. He refers to her killing herself as suicide and mentions sacrilege if she were to do it, as she would be committing 3 sins at one go, taking his life, committing suicide and killing the flea. Donne has used a lot of symbolism in the entirety of the poem. Throughout the poem, hes used the flea as a symbol of their togetherness, and expands on it being their marriage bed. He alludes to the symbolism of the Holy Trinity when he talks about three things in one body. One of the very interesting modes of symbolism he has used is blood, particularly in the last stanza. Blood symbolizes life and Donne has used it to symbolize erotic passion and religious devotion. In the last stanza, she crushes the fly, not paying any heed or attention to his advances on her. He has already mentioned blood of theirs being intermingled in the body of the flea, representing them being one flesh. He admonishes her and asks her regarding the sin the poor flee had committed other than the fact that the flea just sucked a little blood from them. It is worth mentioning here the role of the female in this poem. Her objections are never noted, just reacted to, and she makes a very powerful yet non-verbal statement by crushing the flea. Very interestingly the reader can see the conceits in which he first tries to show the flea being greater than the church, the sacred relationship between a man and woman and then slowly showing the church and the relationship being greater than just a mere flea. He has realized that she has not fallen for his arguments; therefore he changes tactic and his argument therein. He carries his conceit through, now giving her no reason not to sleep with him, he argues that killing the flea was an easy thing, as she shows it did not harm them, he claims then yielding to him would have just been as easy and painless as killing the flea. To summarize, this work is a metaphysical play with words, wherein themes such as lust, religious imagery, and playful nature are being used. Donne has used words which allude to spiritual aspects of living in that era which give more than one view on what he is actually trying to say. In conclusion, the poem uses a lot of religious imagery as it helps add a sort of authority to the poem, as Donne has shown and argued that what they were about to do was not only supported by religion and God, but not doing it would be sacrilege too. The method of poetic conceit was used very cleverly to extend the flea to have many different meanings to it and add more color and humor to it. Kerins, in another Journal talking about The Flea makes an interesting observation, Donne was the first to have the flea bite both him and his mistress, thus making it a symbol not of the lovers desire but of the desired union {The Elegies . . . , 174). The flea becomes a union symbol because in its mingling of bloods it symbolizes the mingling of bloods thought to take place during coition (cf. Gardner, 175).

“Lord of The Flies”- Holocaust Essay

The book,†Lord of the Flies† parallels exactly to the horrible accounts of the Holocaust. It took place during the same time, and many ideas and events are very similar. The Holocaust was a huge inspiration on Golding’s book, and like the Holocaust, Golding creates a setting, that’s in a sense, secret. They also both took place during World War II. Just like in the beginning, when the boys first landed on the island, before the Holocaust even began, the boys were unified as one tribe. However, underneath the surface, problems were rising. Piggy was referred to only by his derisive nickname, much in the same way as Jews were stripped of their real names and called ‘Jew bastard’or ‘kike’. â€Å"You’re talking too much,† said Jack merridew, â€Å"Shut up fatty.† Laughter arose (Golding 21) This is only one of the many examples of the boys degrading Piggy. Jews weren’t ever treated quite as fairly as Germans. They were discriminated because of their race, religion, and mostly just because they were living a better life than the Germans. Ralph was the leader. He thought things out with his right hand man, Piggy. Together they were very intelligent, and were respected by most of the boys. Ralph who represents Neville Chamberlain, who was England Prime Minister before World War II was infamous for allowing Hitler to invade the Sudetenland without conse quence. Jack would represent Adolf Hitler. He wanted power, and would do anything to get it. Like Hitler, Jack was a very good public speaker. He said what people wanted to hear, that they would have fun, and eat meat, in a time when meat sounded very good to the boys, when they were on the verge of starvation from hunger. He took advantage of his abilities to hunt and the weakness of the boys, just as Hitler did. He would find in this downtrodden people, an audience very willing to listen. In his speeches, Hitler offered what they needed most, encouragement. He gave them heaps of vague promises while avoiding the details. Hitler didn’t work alone. He had his right hand man who was in charge of the extermination of his enemies. Roger was Jack’s chief executioner and Adolf Eichmann had the job of ridding Germany of Jews. You  could tell in the beginning that Jack would rebel. He always had a different  view than Ralph, and you could see some envy of Ralph in him. â€Å"We want meat-† â€Å"And we don’t get it†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ We need shelters† Suddenly Jack shouted in rage. â€Å"Are you  accusing-?† † All I’m saying is we’ve worked dashed hard. That’s all.† They were both red in the face and found looking at each other difficult (Golding 51). Ralph had his group- Piggy, Simon, and some of the â€Å"littluns†. They were the thinkers of the boys. They represented the Jews, and Jack hated them for it because Jack’s main worry was hunting while R alph tried to focus on the fire and getting rescued. Their ideas clashed and so did they. One of Hitler’s main problems with Jews was that they were so smart and they were living a wealthier life than everyone else, and hogging all of the luxuries that could and should be the Germans. That’s when Jack formed his new tribe with the choir boys, then known as the hunters, on the other side of the island. â€Å"I’m going off by myself. He can catch his own pigs. Anyone who wants to hunt when I do can come too.†(Golding 127). This is similar to Hitler’s forming of the Nazis. Jack recruited Roger who was a more sadistic member of the tribe. All of his tribe members played a very evil part, and most of them were only interested in killing. They thought it was exciting and enjoyed it. They were forced to rebel against Ralph, and they symbolized the people who were forced into torturing the Jews. They would torture, or be tortured. It was a simple answer for most, as it was for Sam and Eric. They were the public, easily convinced and lead into traps in which they didn’t think for themselves anymore. This is when it changes from a democracy to a dictatorship, exactly what happened after Hitler became leader. In the book, Jack made all of his followers call him chief, respect him, and acknowledge when he was done speaking. The two savages looked at each other, raised their spears and spoke in time. â€Å"The Chief has spoken.†(Golding 141).He made them march together, and look very well organized and unified. On October 13,1930, dressed in their brown shirts, the elected Nazi deputies marched in unison into the Reichstag and took their seats. When the roll call was taken, each one shouted, â€Å"Present! Heil Hitler!† . Both of these examples have alot of similarities. Both show the obedience the leaders had over their followers. They were  all brainwashed, and this statement goes to both Jack’s tribe and the Nazis. This brainwashing even got to a point where killing was okay. They didn’t really think  twice about it. They all thought what they were doing was right, they didn’t realize what they were doing, and didn’t look at the big picture. †¦Roger, with a sense of  delirious abandonment, leaned all his weight on the lever†¦The rock struck Piggy with a glancing blow (Golding 180). This statement describes Roger’s feelings about killing, and it obviously doesn’t matter that much to him. He wasn’t thinking before he acted. When Simon was coming down the mountain to tell everyone that there really wasn’t a beast, it was just a dead body from war, they mistook Simon himself for the beast  because they were so riled up from the feast and the dance, they actually tricked themselves into thinking Simon was something else. Even after, when they knew what they were doing they kept tearing Simon apart. The beast was on its knees in the center, its arms folded over its face. It was crying out against the abominable noise something about a dead body on the hill†¦At once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock, leapt on to the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore (Golding 153). The feast and dance are similar to Hitler’s speeches to get everyone excited to kill the Jews. He began speech in low, hesitating tones,  gradually rising the pitch and volume of his voice then exploding in a climax of frenzied indignation. He combined this with carefully rehearsed hand gestures for maximum effect. He skillfully played on the emotions of the  audience bringing the level of excitement  higher and higher until people wound up a wide-eyed, screaming, frenzied mass that surrendered to his will and looked upon him with pseudo- religious adoration. When Jack’s tribe is trying to hunt down Ralph to torture him, it represents the German police, ripping the ghettos apart just to find some Jews hidden in homes and  other buildings, so that they could be brought to concentration camps where they  would be tortured and/or killed. When they finally find Ralph, in his thicket hiding,  they decide there is not much they can do to kill him, but set the island on fire. This is  similar to when the German people working on the concentration camps cremated their  victims in a fire pit, where they couldn’t get out. I also think it is important to mention  that the word, Holocaust comes from the Greek holokauston , that which is  completely burnt, that which goes up, that is in smoke, or a sacrificial offering that is  consumed entirely by flames.   Ralph did end up escaping the fire, and just when everything seemed lost, the boys  were chasing after him, and it was expected for him to die, the naval officer showed  up on the island because he saw the flames from his ship. It is only when the boys are  rescued by a naval officer that the monster Jack has become shrinks back into his boy-  like state. This deflation of power signifies the collapse of Nazi Germany in the face of  the Allied forces(Windham 3). A little boy who wore the remains of an extraordinary  black cap on his red hair and who carried the remains of a pair of spectacles at his  waist, started forward, then changed his mind and stood still (Golding 201). In  the Holocaust, when everything seemed lost, soldiers fighting in the war started  showing up to liberate the Jews, and everyone else that was captured.  The similarites of the book and the German Holocaust are no coincidences. Golding  had definite intentions of referring to the Hol ocaust in this novel, and in this thesis there are  too many similarities to say they weren’t written because of the events going on during  World War II.

Identifying Key Factors for New Product Success

Identifying key factors for new product success It is well known for us that new product development is always the key for companies’ success or even survival. And the new products don’t need to be the totally new products, companies can just make some improvements, improve customers’ experience, or exchange a new color, shape to bring to customers new satisfaction and benefit. Then customers will not be tired of something, and customers are always the focus of marketing. But new product development process is not a simple process. It is a very complex process needs many correlative departments such as marketing, designing, developing, and manufacturing departments work together. What’s more, a new product takes a high risk, because nobody can guarantee that this is going to be sold well. It is very important to follow a scientific development process, this can reduce the risk as much as we can. At the beginning, we need some ideas, some kinds of inspiratio n.When customers have some new needs or new technology is invented, there could be an opportunity for company’s new products. These ideas may also come from one of employees, competitor’s new product, or government’s new policy. In other word, the opportunity maybe in everywhere, whenever we think customers need something new, we can develop a new product. Second, the company needs to estimate and analyze those ideas, compare with them by each advantages or disadvantages. And then choose the most hopeful one from many ideas.Try to find a potential profitable project. And the way to pick it is building a model that can measure technology advantage, marketing attraction and earning power. A good opinion is a kind of right direction, can lead the following process. Third, since we got the idea, I think it’s time to set a market strategy before the deign part. We need to analyze the target market, see what are the size, structure and behavior, and what the le vel that customers need it, the frequency of Purchase.Describe who would be the potential customers, and then set the cost based on it, and the general price strategy, promotion strategy, marketing budget, and the possible product mix for the new product. Fourth part is design and testing part, the reason why I put them together is that I think after a fail testing, the prototype always need to be redesigned. And before the final product, there always be lots of testing and redesign job to do to transfer the idea to a real valuable product. It can also be called the key of the entire new product development process.Fifth, when the new product is ready, all tested by engineers and employees. It’s time to be introduced to market. However, sometimes we need to do the Test Marketing, this is a real final testing, and the testers are customers. In general, company would choose a small place, like a small town, and try to sell the new products to those customers, and analyze the fe edback. Then market department can adjust its market strategy based on the feedback. The test marketing always lasts several months, or can be one year. After the final test, the new product can be introduced to the whole market. This is a scientific way to develop a new product. But as I said before, nobody can guarantee that this is going to be successful, even if it did a great job in test market. But what reasons cause a fail product? I think one of those reasons is fail to estimate the true potential of the market, if exaggerating the market potential, in which can bring some very serious problems like over-investment, over-manufacture, and product backlog.Another reason to fail could be the wrong design. Design part is the key of the whole development process, because customer is the key of market. If the design of new product can not satisfy customers’ need, the product would be fail, no question about it. Company would lose market share. But if company set a wrong pric e level, higher than the value of product, or made to much high cost, the profit would go down. A product can’t create profit would be fail too. And some people may not notice that a good promotion helps the new product a lot.A good and impressed promotion process can really fly a product, on the other hand, a awful promotion process can be a disaster for a new product. In short, developing a new product is a required process for a company. A new product’s success in market may indicate corporation’s bright future. But new products mean high risk, we need to do everything to do to reduce the risk. Like following the scientific development process, try to get the key need of customers. And a very important one, company needs to have self-confidence for the new product.

Alternative Forms Of Medicine For Breast Cancer Rates

Context Breast cancer rates are continuously on the rise, and improvements in diagnostic technology have made it possible for patients to undergo treatment as early as possible in attempt for a higher survival rate. However, conventional treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy leave patients weak, fatigued, and often depressed. Alternative forms of medicine are being sought out to provide a better experience for these breast cancer patients. This systematic review examines the effects of two such methods: Yoga and acupuncture. Methods An electronic review of CINAHL complete, PubMed, Medline Plus, and ProQuest Medical databases was performed independently by four researchers; a total of 20 different peer-reviewed publications were selected for data extraction and review. Inclusion and exclusion criteria was determined to select articles that applied only to women with breast cancer, or a history of breast cancer, over the age of 35 utilizing yoga and acupuncture as forms of co mplementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Results Although this systematic review provides a wide range of sample populations and study designs, all studies provided a positive outcome from patients using these forms of CAM. Reduced fatigue and depression as well as increased quality of life was seen throughout all studies and reviews.
